Some wedding venues are beautiful. Others simply feel like home. Tar Creek Ranch in Arroyo Grande, California is one of those rare places. Rolling hills surround this Central Coast wedding venue. Mature trees and open skies add to its rustic charm. Together, they create a timeless setting for any wedding. It was the ideal setting for this colorful spring wedding, where soft pastels, vibrant florals, and genuine moments came together to create an unforgettable celebration.
As a husband-and-wife wedding photography and videography team serving Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, and California’s Central Coast, these are the weddings we love documenting most. We believe the best photos come from genuine moments. They happen when couples enjoy each other instead of worrying about the camera. Noah and Taylor’s wedding was a perfect example of that philosophy.
Spring Wedding Florals at Tar Creek Ranch
One of the standout details from this Tar Creek Ranch wedding was the floral design by Hepburn & Jane. Taylor’s vision centered around colorful spring blooms, soft pastel tones, and a romantic wildflower feel. Every arrangement brought that vision to life. The lush bridal bouquet stood out immediately. The ceremony arbor looked incredible. Meanwhile, the reception centerpieces tied everything together. If you’re planning a wedding at Tar Creek Ranch or anywhere on California’s Central Coast, Hepburn & Jane creates beautiful floral designs that make every celebration feel unique and photograph beautifully.

A Relaxed Morning at the Tar Creek Ranch Bride and Groom Suites
The first of our favorite features at Tar Creek Ranch is the dedicated getting-ready spaces for both the bride and groom. Everyone has room to relax, get ready, and enjoy the morning without feeling rushed. Large windows fill the bridal suite with natural light, creating a bright and inviting space for photos. Meanwhile, the groom’s suite offers the perfect place to spend time with friends before the ceremony.

A Private First Look That Made the Day Even Better
One of the best decisions Noah and Taylor made was sharing a private first look in front of Tar Creek Ranch’s iconic white barn. Before the ceremony, they exchanged personal vows and enjoyed a few quiet moments together away from the excitement of the day. A first look doesn’t take away from the ceremony. Instead, it gives couples extra time together and helps calm those pre-ceremony nerves.
From a photography standpoint, it also creates a more relaxed wedding timeline. We were able to capture their portraits and many of their family photos before the ceremony, allowing them to spend more time celebrating with guests during cocktail hour instead of taking pictures. At a beautiful venue like Tar Creek Ranch, that extra flexibility makes the day feel less rushed and gives couples more time to simply enjoy their wedding.

An Outdoor Ceremony on the Lawn
Next, Noah and Taylor exchanged vows on the beautiful ceremony lawn at Tar Creek Ranch in Arroyo Grande. Rolling hills and mature trees created a peaceful backdrop for their colorful spring wedding. Soft pastel florals framed the ceremony without taking away from the natural beauty of the venue. Every detail felt relaxed, elegant, and true to their vision. It’s easy to see why Tar Creek Ranch is one of our favorite Central Coast wedding venues. The scenery is beautiful, the light is incredible, and every ceremony feels unique.

A Relaxed Cocktail Hour and Reception
After the ceremony, guests gathered on the cocktail lawn for drinks and appetizers. Tar Creek Ranch makes this transition feel effortless. The barn’s full-service bar serves both the indoor and outdoor spaces, so guests can relax without missing a moment. Later, everyone moves into the reception tent for dinner, heartfelt toasts, and Noah and Taylor’s first dance before celebrating the rest of the evening inside the tent or barn.

Sneaking Away for Golden Hour
During dinner, we stepped away with Noah and Taylor for a few golden hour portraits around Tar Creek Ranch. Golden hour is one of our favorite times to photograph weddings at Tar Creek Ranch. Throughout the evening the warm evening light creates soft, natural portraits while giving couples a chance to slow down and enjoy the first moments of married life together. We explored several areas of the property. We started among the trees and tall grass behind the reception tent. Next we walked along the quiet gravel road before finishing in the open field with the rolling Arroyo Grande hills behind them. Finally, we captured a few timeless portraits in front of Tar Creek Ranch’s iconic white barn. The variety of backdrops is one of the many reasons we love photographing weddings here.
